Returning for two weeks next Saturday (Feb 27, 2010 look out for Vancouver cap!).

Our "to do" list includes Yal Ku, Akumal Beech, Telum, Coba, Rio Secret, Blue Mist and Hidden World (Did Xel-Ha and Dolipinia last year) i.e. one trip every second day!

I'm a tad concerned about Hidden World. Any1 have feedback on how intimidating the zip, rappel or canopy tours are for a 11 year old girl, who sometimes needs a little encouragement? Is it still worth going without doing the zip and rappel?

Cheers

PS Gary where did you put that extensive list of drinks and cocktails, all of which have to be tried!?

PPS Is there any advantage in mentioning we are returning guests at check in?

Excited much? Woop, Woop, Yip Yip; me runs around in circles on my tippy toes! Laughing

drinks are listed on top of the general forum as a sticky "drinks anyone"

Also try the Canadian Mojito ... Guarapo, rum, mint , limes, tonic water

You are off to Mexico and I am off to Vancouver!!!!
Olympic hockey Canada vs US!!! This is just as good as a Mexican vacation to a Canadian who loves and played hockey!!! Goooo Canada!

The lines at Hidden Worlds are nowhere near as high as Selvatica and Xplor. Many times in the canopy all you see is the trees below you and not the ground.

We just got home from GS last night Sad
Didn't go to Hidden world so can't help you with that.
We stayed at GS last year and didn't fill out the VIP form.
So my wife started E-mailing them to find out if we could still get for this year
guestservice.mx@sirenishotels.com
In the E-mails we got back sounded like we still needed to fill out the VIP forms then on our next visit we will get the benefit for returning Sad
We filled in the form when we arrived but at check in we both got gold bands still no mention of VIP I just thought that's the color we got from being at GS last year I knew they used many different colors of bands(My wife said we are VIP that's why we have gold ones) At first I didn't think so even after seeing the maids room list she left behind in our room with with VIP beside the room number I just thought it was the people that used the room before us lol. In our room we had a bottle of Tequila, Basket of fruit, A gift bag with a notepad, change purse and 2 hotel shot glasses, A nice flower arrangement also nightly bed turn down and lit a aroma therapy candle in the room. We also could book the French restaurant for free!!! Didn't even have to worry about towel cards we had 2 towels already in the room folded and ready to go. Also a 10% discount on a ocean view room in building 19

knnn, I took my very cautious 10 year old son on a zipline tour in PV a few years ago. He has always been a very unsure kind of kid. I was not sure if he would actually do it, but it was the kind encouragement from the people in our group, that we had never met before that gave him the courage. Where we were, they started off low, and and worked there way up, WAY up, and he had a GREAT time. It really helped him with his trust and confidence. Give it a try, just be patient and kind.

Cheers Gary, hope you have a great time in our fair city!

Thanks Mustang that's reassuring to know. Sounds like a good place to start, rather than jumping in at the more "extreme" tours.

ColdCanuk, lol I can only imagine how you feel arriving back in Winterpeg. Thanks for the info, I am going to try and email them and get the TA to send in our building request and also mention the VIP status. If you don't ask you don't get, right?

Barngirl, an interesting name, Smile, the little steps is good advice and hopefully Hidden World has some smaller zips to try out first.

My 12 yo son (10 at the time) did Hidden World. The three cenotes, not the zip lines. We absolutely LOVED it!!! He wants to go back with his 23 yo sister in July. He is not a good swimmer and I do not snorkel, but we both really felt comfortable there.

As far as zip lines, he did XPlore last December and enjoyed it. Again, he is not a sporty type of boy, rather reserved. But with his dad there, he was ok.

Definitely mention that you are a returned guest. Email them beforehand to let them know. They should try to give you building 1900 or 2900 at no charge, plus a free meal at the French restaurant, a water circuit pass and 10% on everything GS... That's what we got the second time we went (not the water circuit though, the spa wasn't built yet).

Have fun!
